Industrial Evaporative Cooling for Parker Meggitt Defence Systems Division

Parker Meggitt's Defence Systems Division (DSD) is a highly specialised engineering organisation operating at the forefront of defence technology. The division focuses on the design, development, integration, production and support of a broad range of advanced systems, including thermal management systems, aerospace pumps and fans, ammunition handling systems, weapon scoring systems, dynamic pressure sensors, piezoelectric accelerometers, towed targets, reeling machines, and associated telemetry.

With such precision-critical manufacturing taking place across their production and warehouse facilities, maintaining a controlled and comfortable working environment is not simply a matter of staff welfare — it is a fundamental operational requirement.

The Challenge: Cooling a High-Spec Manufacturing Environment

As temperatures within their production and warehouse areas became increasingly difficult to manage, Parker Meggitt DSD required a reliable, low-disruption cooling solution that could be integrated into their existing facility infrastructure without impacting their demanding manufacturing schedule.

The facilities already had extraction systems in place, presenting both a challenge and an opportunity for the design of an effective scheme.

The Celsius Solution: EcoCooling with Integrated Extraction

Celsius Design supplied and installed three EcoCooling evaporative cooling units across the two areas — two wall-mounted units and one roof-mounted unit. Rather than replacing the existing extraction infrastructure, Celsius integrated it directly into the new cooling scheme. This approach maximised the performance of the overall system whilst significantly reducing installation costs for the client.

EcoCooling evaporative systems are renowned for their energy efficiency, offering up to 90% running cost savings compared to conventional air conditioning, making them ideally suited to large-scale production and warehouse environments.
